93.4% of accidents are attributable to the driver, 2.2% to poor road conditions, and only 0.8% correspond to reasons attributable to the vehicle.

According to public analysis, there are at least five main factors that increase the incidence of fatal and non-fatal accidents related to neglect or human irresponsibility. These factors should be included in a package of measures aimed at improving the safety of all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists.
It should be noted that 93.4% of accidents are attributable to the driver, 2.2% to poor road conditions, and only 0.8% correspond to reasons attributable to the vehicle. It is important then to exercise stricter measures on the following issues:
1. Continue to improve the information about the risks of driving under the influence of alcohol or substances that condition the abilities of drivers, since this is one of the main factors for fatal accidents.
2. Enhance the conditions of road infrastructure and signs, considering the second factor that causes fatal accidents is related to environmental conditions.
3. Promote the maintenance of vehicles, enforcing periodic reviews.
